We do not sell or rent personal information.

We may disclose personal information, where reasonably necessary, to:

  • Website hosting, form-processing and analytics providers, including Squarespace

If sharing information with a supplier becomes necessary, we will explain why and obtain your permission unless disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law.

Overseas Processing and Storage

Some service providers used by Somewhere by Design, including Squarespace and Microsoft, operate internationally. Personal information may therefore be processed or stored outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries in which those providers or their contracted service providers operate.

The privacy and data-protection laws in those countries may differ from Australian law. We select established providers and take reasonable steps to ensure personal information is handled appropriately.

The countries in which these providers process information may change as their infrastructure and service arrangements change.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

These steps may include:

  • Using reputable website, email and storage providers

  • Protecting accounts with passwords and available security controls

  • Limiting access to information to those who reasonably require it

  • Keeping business systems and devices appropriately secured

  • Avoiding unnecessary collection and disclosure

However, no internet transmission, email service or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

If you believe information you have provided may have been accessed or disclosed without authorisation, please contact us promptly.

How Long We Keep Personal Information

We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide an agreed service, maintain appropriate business records, resolve a dispute or comply with legal, taxation and insurance requirements.

When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we will take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it where practical and legally permitted.

Some information may remain temporarily within secure backups or third-party systems until those records are overwritten or deleted through the provider’s normal processes.

Please include enough information for us to understand the concern and investigate it properly.

We will acknowledge the complaint within a reasonable period, investigate the circumstances and aim to provide a response within 30 days. If additional time is required, we will let you know.

If your complaint cannot be resolved directly and the Privacy Act applies to the matter, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner through www.oaic.gov.au.
